Late Additions to Campaigns: What Happens?

First things first:
👉 There are only three types of campaigns in ConveYour: Join-by, Start Date, and Workflows.

• Join-by campaigns and Workflows do not have “past content” that can be caught up on. These are one-way campaigns — content is released when certain conditions are met (Workflows) or when a learner reaches specific days after joining (Join-by). Learners only move forward; they never see content that went out before they entered.

• Start Date campaigns are the only type that allow “catching up.” Depending on how you configure the content (specific dates vs. delays), late joiners may or may not see what has already been released.

🚫 Scenario 1: Late Additions Won’t See Content (Start Date Campaigns with Fixed Dates)

If your Start Date campaign is set up with hard start dates (specific calendar dates), then new participants added after those dates will not see earlier content.

Example:

• Campaign Start Date: January 1, 2022

• Content scheduled for:

  • January 1

  • January 2

  • January 3

If you add someone on January 12, they won’t receive the lessons that went out January 1–3.

💡 Think of it like sending an email:
If you sent an email on January 1, only the people in the group at that time received it. Adding someone later doesn’t resend that message to them.

✅ Scenario 2: Late Additions Will See Content (Start Date Campaigns with Delays)

If you want new participants to still access past content, configure your Start Date campaign to use delays from campaign start instead of fixed calendar dates.

Example:

• Campaign Start Date: January 1, 2022

• Content scheduled with delays:

  • Day 0 → Lesson 1

  • Day 1 → Lesson 2

  • Day 2 → Lesson 3

If you add someone on January 12, they’ll immediately see all the lessons tied to Day 0, Day 1, and Day 2.

⚠ Note: Alerts (like email or SMS notifications) are not resent for past lessons. The only alert late additions receive is the initial registration confirmation.

🔧 How to Adjust a Start Date Campaign

To make sure late additions can see content:

1. Open your campaign content.

2. Change “Release on a specific date” → “Delay from campaign start.”

3. Adjust your lessons to use delays:

   • Lesson 1 → Day 0

   • Lesson 2 → Day 1

   • Lesson 3 → Day 2

   • …and so on.

This ensures that late joiners can see the full set of lessons, even though they joined after the campaign began.

📝 Summary

• Join-by campaigns & Workflows: No catching up. Learners only receive content from the point they qualify or join onward.

• Start Date campaigns (fixed dates): Late additions do not see past content.

• Start Date campaigns (delays): Late additions do see past content, but won’t get old alerts.
